What do I need to use a midi controller as a keyboard?

But what do I need to do to play it like a regular piano/keyboard?

You would need a tone module or tone generator ( Same thing ) Your controller will send commands to the generator. The generator will then generate the tone or voice. Here's a good example.

I just recently been chosen to compose a short film. As software Im going to use Logic to make the synthetic version of the score. Im wondering which keyboard would be the best choice to do just that. Im choosing between an M-Audio Keystation 61es or an M-Audio Keystation 49, which one should I buy?
