How much does a turntable cost?
Hey I was just wondering how much it costs to buy a turntable to start to listen to some vinyl's. I collect CDs and have always wanted to start to collect vinyl's but never had any equipment to play them. Also, can you buy a turntable which has an audio jack to plug external speakers into it?

You're really better off sticking to Cds unless you have a nice stereo system and you want to spend $500.00 - $800.00 on a turntable and decent cartridge. Below that price point, CD really sounds better. There are a lot of people buying cheap turntables, record players and new vinyl these days. But really, they're falling for a fad and they could get better sound from CDs at that price point, minus the surface noise of vinyl.
It's possible to get off a little cheaper with used equipment. But you have to know quite a bit about different designs and models... what to look for... spotting missing pieces... how to do some maintanance that will probably be necessary... Many used tables bought online are destroyed in shipping too. Turntables are about the hardest thing to ship safely and many people aren't up to the task. Shopping used can be risky, unless you have help from someone who knows a lot about turntables... and even then.
