I want to run Logic Pro 8 and my ASR-10 with an interface... which MAC is better: IMAC, MAC Mini, or MACBook?
I have a budget of about $1400, which I can only get the computer first, then later get Logic Pro 8 and an audio interface. I like the IMacs, but I wonder if its worth the extra $$$ when compared with the Super Drive Mac Mini.
I would go with the iMac. Pretty much all of these models use laptop parts so the performance, although great, isn't going to be what it could.
On the hard drive when speccing it out, don't get anything under 5400 rpms. 7200rpms is preferable. In a Macbook a higher rpm hard drive is going to suck the life out of your battery faster. 5400rpms is kind of the average speed. You probably wouldn't notice any difference in performance as far as write times for files, loading applications, etc. Lower than that and you will notice a HUGE difference.... higher... you'll notice a HUGE increase in speed...
If you get an iMac, I would recommend purchasing with as little RAM as possible and purchasing replacement memory from a third party like: http://www.crucial.com. Especially for something like Logic Pro you'll want as much memory as the system will take!

Size and Space Needed
One of the first things that you need to consider is what your current or future circumstances are as far as the number of people in your immediate family who will be driving or will be transported in the new vehicle you choose. For example, are you single, married, have children or expecting a child in the near future? Your answers to the above questions will help determine the size of car you should be looking for.

There are a variety of types of car to choose from and there is a type for everyone’s lifestyle. A supermini is usually easy to drive and has smaller engine sizes. You also want to make sure you have enough horse power for your needs. The size of the engine is also something to consider. Once you have narrowed down your choices and have a specific model you’re interested in; now it is time to do some research. To most people the vehicle’s safety is the single most important factor when choosing a new car. This is especially important if you have a young family, 3 or more kids or you simply have a lot of passengers that are relying on you to keep them safe on the road. But most of all please don’t forget to ask about the Euro NCAP’s star ratings for the car before you buy.
Purchasing a new vehicle is something that you want to take your time doing and shop around to decide which car will best fit your needs. A new car is a major investment and you want something that will be reliable and last a long time. If you consider your options wisely you will find a vehicle that will fit you and your lifestyle.
