Amp Record Player
For those of you who are mechanical and good at electronics: old record player question...?
Ok, so just recently I decided to hook up my family's old record player in my room, I spent all yesterday on it connecting it to this huge amplifier and that to a variety of speakers: center speak, subwoof, left and right speak. Each speaker has worked, but never all at the same time. Then I had the problem of the sound not going through the amp. My dad and I could only hear it a tiny bit through the player. But now, I've gotten sound to go throught the center speak only, but it is SO quiet. What do I do? Please please help.
older lp and 45 players output is mono. your amp would need a dedicated phono input....then your sound should be alright. and some of em ya gotta ground the phonograph to the housing of the amp. there would be a special third wire if so....usually runs along with the output cord.
next steps would be to undo the sub and center speakers from the amp. then just listen to the phono on the main left and right channels. the k.i.s.s. principle applies to audio equipment....especially the old stuff.
it sounds like your amp isnt gettin a strong signal from the phono.....or the amp can only run certain speakers with the record player.
make sure the needle on the player isnt broken. or the weight on the armature is misadjusted.
they dont make things like they used to. but becareful dumpin cash into a old record player.
advice? keep the records is a cool dry dark place. if ya really want to be nostalgic you can get a radio shack lp player for cheap...and enjoy your classic stuff.
i was a dummy and got rid of about 140 45's....all classic oldie goldies. five years later i wouldnt of minded chillin to em sometime.

Do tube amp record players need to warm up before playing a record?
Zenith Cobra-matic Model HF10 Chassis 3Z04
I let the tubes warm up for a few minutes and played the record. It played fine and the audio quality was decent and then I heard some popping sounds coming from the amp. 2 of the 3 tubes are lit up and the third one (12AX7) isn't. Did I damage the tube?
You didn't damage the tube; it just failed by its self.
