How much does a light (mtb) mountain bike frame weigh?
Hi. I'm going to buy a mtb frame and I want something light. I don't know what is considered light for a steel cromo or aluminium frame and i would like to know. Any help would be appreciated.

Assuming you want a true MTB frame for XC (cross country), the lightest frames will be hardtails. Also assuming you don't want to go the full custom route you'll probably end up with a good butted aluminum frame.
A race-level butted aluminum hardtail frame can be found in the 1500 gram range- about 3.3 pounds. Figure cost to be somewhere in the $1000 range... maybe a bit less if you can find an off-brand model or a closeout buy.
Personally, I wouldn't have frame weight as my main concern for MTB. I'd first make sure that it is suitable for the suspension I want to use, then determine whether it will take the punishment it is sure to get, then I would consider it's expected life,and THEN I would think about weight.
