3 Cd Cassette Turntable How would you dispose of old electronics?
I have 4 giant wood speakers, 2 corwin vega, a receiver, dual cassette deck, cd player, turntable & a needle for it, tons of vinyl, 1970, 80, a few boom boxes, radio no cd just cassette players, 3 vdr's that work,
everything is piled up since we've gone digital, some people say to toss it, some say try to sell it,
short of giving it to the kids to tinker with we thought about just junking it at the dump.
HELP !!!
i need some input,
thanks in advance

LP's and 45's to hard disk?
Please treat my question as a genuine request for help.
I'm an old man, 76 and not too well.
Your help will be most genuinely appreciated.
Please reply in simple English and avoid jargon.
I've got the cables, I've got the turntable, I 've got the 45's and LP's (331/3).
Now, "How do I go about linking my turntable to my computer, getting my LP's and 45's on to my hard disk and then on to CD's?"
Similarly how do I get my cassettes on to my hard disk and then on to CD's?
I'll need software, so please let me have a link to free software that will help me do all of the above.
Many thanks in advance.
Dunk.
You must first connect the turntable to an audio amplifier, or the sound will be distorted. Then you just need to connect the headphone output from the amp to the line in socket on the motherboard or sound card.
I have used Audacity. Free, and great for ironing out the clicks & pops. I am in the process of saving my vinyl collection to MP3 format - minimum compression leaves them as good as the original (to me) although my first attempt using maximum compression yielded some pinky & perky tracks!
You will need a CD burner and some software. Make sure that the burner and the media you use is compatible with the device(s) you intend to play back on = CRUCIAL.
This will be CD±R or CD±RW. But the media will be either plus OR minus. I've found RW (re-writeable) is not necessary, as I fill the disc in one go.
I don't know if there is any WAV playback compatibility issue (I've never heard of one) but the playback device will definitely need to have an MP3 decoder to play MP3s.
Next you need a CD writer and some software. CD-writers are dirt cheap these days. If you must get it from PCWorld, pre-order on the web, and get it for a "normal" price.
Software. I have Roxio, I was never happy with Nero, but for burning CDs I should think freeware downloads are available.
I leave it for someone who has used it to recommend one.
Good Luck.
By the way - you will need heaps of time. You can put the disc on and walk away, but before you burn to CD you'll want to clean up the clicks & pops - it's worn me out!
