How turntables work (set up)?
so i want to get turntables and scratch on them but i have no clue on how they work.. ive watched videos and seen how ppl play mix and scratch a number of songs on 2 vinyls? they have a computer connected to it most of the time... somebody explain plzz
a turntable is a very simple device.
It has a motor that is frequency controlled so that you can adjust the "pitch" (speed) by adjusting the frequency to the motor.
Then you have the electronics part. There is a stylus, a magnetic cartridge. As the stylus rides in the groove, it changes the induction voltages in the magnetic field.
You need a very high gain amp to pick up the audio from the cartridge.
old turntables could only work on one receiver at a time, or a multi-input pre-amp and external phono inputs.
new turntables that are USB and feed a computer are easier to multiplex.
